ALTERATIONS

The altarpiece is apparently the only conserved fragment of an altarpiece that was split up and whose different parts have later gone missing. Its current state of conservation is extremely delicate: signs of a serious attack by xylophagous insects are clearly seen with its corresponding considerable loss of certain volumes and even whole fragments (the hands of Saint Joseph, midwife and Holy Infant).

In 1995, a company called CERDÁ carried out restoration work consisting basically in consolidation of the wood, the volumetric reintegration of missing fragments using Araldite, insertion of a piece into a side, insect removal and the addition of a cabinet made of untreated wood.
