ALTERATIONS

Some elements of the traceries, main frame and openwork are missing. Pieces that were attached to the gilded rear of the compartment are also missing, allowing us to see the holes made by the wooden dowels that were used to hold them in place. The polychrome decoration has also suffered general losses overall that are more abundant in the decorative vegetable motifs. Parts of the red frame have been given a new coat of red paint.

The altarpiece was restored in the Centre for Conservation and Restoration of the Cultural property of Castile and León from 1999 to 2001. There it was given anoxia treatment and cleaned, colour was fixed, ceramic pieces were securely attached, missing parts were reintegrated and a protective final coat was applied.
