SCIENTIFIC ANALYSES

Chemical analyses:

- PARRA CREGO, E. "Análisis químico de la pintura del Tríptico gótico de la Pasión de la Parroquia de Lekeitio", 2008. (Unpublished)

Analyses of three samples: blue (from the leg of the soldier in the Road to Calvary scenario), flesh tones (from the forehead of one of the people in the Road to Calvary scenario) and white (from the horse appearing in the Crucifixion scenario).

Findings:

- Preparation of chalk agglutinated with animal glue applied in three coats approximately 90µm thick in the blue sample, whereas the flesh and white tones have been applied using only one light, thinner coat.

- Azurite applied to a tempera of animal glue on a foundation of black charcoal agglutinated with animal glue.

- Flesh tones applied in two coats of white lead, calcite, red earth, red glaze, yellowish-ochre earth agglutinated together with linseed oil.

- The white oil colour applied in two coats essentially contains white lead.
