Some of the elements of traceries, rosettes and fleurs-de-lis are missing, together with some heads, hands and arms that permit us to see the way in which the figures were assembled with wooden dowels inserted into the two surfaces that were going to be joined together. Part of the polychrome decoration has also been lost generally, more importantly in such areas as on the face of St. John. The red frame has been partially given a new coat of red paint.
The altarpiece was restored in the Centre for Conservation and Restoration of the Cultural Property of Castile and León from 1999 to 2001. There it was given anoxia treatment, cleaned, colour was fixed, ceramic pieces were securely attached, missing parts were replaced and a protective final coat of decoration was applied.
