ALTERATIONS

The most important alteration is the incorporation of a large frame, altar and pedestal, all of which are profusely decorated in Neo Gothic style, to celebrate the restoration work carried out in 1906. Missing and deteriorated support elements such as traceries, capitels, bases, hands, fingers, pleats and folds of garments, etc..

Inadequate cleaning during the restoration work carried out at the beginning of the XX century and the ageing of those materials making up the polychrome decoration, both of which were further complicated by the lack of proper environmental conditions, detract from the appearance this altarpiece must have had originally.

In 2002 Restauraciones Siglo XXI, S.L. carried out restoration work consisting of: the elimination of foreign elements, binding of the pictorial surface, consolidating and fixing the support, cleaning, chromatic reintegration and the application of a final protective layer.

Currently, the altarpiece is covered in a layer of dust and different decorative elements are missing.
