ALTERATIONS

Professor Périer d'Ieteren is of the opinion that different moments from several different stages in the Borman workshop may be appreciated in this work. The simplicity of the rectangular profile of the main frame would seem to date the altarpiece on a par with the earliest altarpieces such as the one dedicated to St. George (today in the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels) and that of Strängnas I, while the delicacy of the applied brocade of its polychrome decoration is comparable to that of later works such as those done by Villberga and Vadstena.
