The three pieces comprising this small altarpiece depict one single scenario as a whole. Logically, the three main characters of the scenario are located in the central section or body. In this case, since the scenario represents the Adoration of the Magi, composition is reserved for the group of figures made up of the Holy Family, one of the three wise men and a seated Virgin holding the Holy Infant on her lap. St. John stands to our right, holding a staff in his right hand whilst removing the hood of his cape with the left. The figure of Melchior completes the group. He is kneeling and offering his gift to the Holy Infant. Two panniers can be seen hanging on a wall with no other spatial references, such as the shed or stable that exists in other examples.
The figure on the left wing represents a standing Gaspar who, as a sign of respect, clutches his robes with his right hand whilst offering his gift with the left. The figure representing Balthazar stands on the opposite door carrying a ciborium in both hands.
