SUPPORT AND ELABORATION 

The relief is made from one single block of oak that shows marks of wedges and adzes to the rear. A knothole at its centre has twisted wood fibres around it. 

Rectangular marks made when the relief was firmly secured to the carpenter's bench during the altarpiece's manufacture may also be observed. Zigzag marks have been scored on the surface of the wood in imitation of irregular terrain.
