THE LAMENTATION OVER THE DEAD CHRIST ALTARPIECE

The scene representing the Lamentation Over the Dead Christ is the only subject dealt with in this altarpiece which today has been installed as a neo-Gothic whole. This somewhat unusual protagonism is perhaps motivated by the desire to imitate the central theme contained in the altarpiece of Las Navas in the city of Pamplona, a singularity that is further accentuated by the unique way in which the altarpiece has been incorporated.
